Introducing Little Tummy Numero Uno

In case anyone has been wondering where I disappeared to… I got sucked into the black hole that is motherhood. It’s been a busy few weeks. She came a week early but we were ready to finally welcome her to the world.

Weighing in at 7 pounds, 1.4 ounces and measuring 19 inches long Twila Autumnly was born on August 13th at 12:29 am. For my first birth I went the crunchy route. As far as I could short of having a home birth. I had a midwife, a doula, and a unmedicated water birth. I had an amazing birth and I feel great. My midwife said I should have done a how-to video it was so perfect. Everyone kept telling me how easy I made it look and I did such a great job and they are proud of me. Since I have nothing to compare it to I can only take their word for it. I don’t think I could ever have a regular birth after having a water birth. It creates a much more calm gentle environment to bring your baby into. Sure there are risks but giving birth is a risk in itself. All that aside I have a healthy beautiful vegan baby girl. That’s right people it can be done and I have living proof.

I have slowly been trying to get into my new routine as a mother with a newborn. Twila is a super easy baby so it hasn’t been too hard to get things done around the house. Cooking has been a challenge though. I am breastfeeding and I don’t have a pump so when she’s hungry I have to drop everything and she eats often. As soon as I start cooking dinner she starts crying so my hubby has to take over.

However please stay tuned. There are things on my must blog list that I will get to eventually. Until then I will be at the beck and call of this new little person in our life.
